Did you know that the World Health Organisation recommend:

Exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life
Continued breastfeeding for up to two years and beyond
The introduction of appropriate solid foods from 6 months

Parents base their decision on how to feed their baby on what feels right for them and their baby. Your may choose not to breastfeed, or, it may not be possible due to illness or medication.

Embarking on a breastfeeding journey is a profound and personal choice for new parents, shaped by a myriad of factors. While the World Health Organization underscores the benefits of breastfeeding, the decision-making process often hinges on individual feelings and circumstances.

Research consistently highlights the critical role of support in this transformative journey. Studies, such as those published in the Journal of Human Lactation, emphasise that mothers who receive adequate support are more likely to establish successful breastfeeding relationships. Emotional encouragement and practical guidance during home visits can alleviate common challenges, fostering a positive experience that contributes to both maternal and infant well-being.

Recognising the pivotal role of support in the breastfeeding journey is fundamental to empowering parents and promoting a healthy start for their newborns.

Navigating the beautiful but sometimes challenging journey of breastfeeding is deeply personal and my role as a breastfeeding coach revolves around providing genuine, individualised support.  Through my one-on-one interactions during home visits, I aim to create a nurturing environment, empowering parents to forge their own path with confidence.

Be mindful that for most women learning the art of breastfeeding it is indeed a journey which unfolds over a period of weeks and for some months as they learn how best to breastfeed and care for their newborn. That is one of the reasons when setting up my Breastfeeding Support in Jersey business, I decided to include support by WhatsApp messages and/or video until such time parents feel they are happy to fly solo with breastfeeding!

Sometimes an extra visit is needed, this does incur an extra fee.
